Susana Calvo

Hello and thank you firstly for taking the time and interest in the Glam Van. My name is Susana Calvo and I'm the founder, director and one of the stylists of the Glam Van.

I originally was a photographer for 10 years specializing in Bridal and Glamour photography, but I then discovered that preparing my clients for the shoot in the way of hair and make up was what I loved more than the photography itself. I loved the look on a woman's face when she was all made up looking like a glamour queen. Not only the visual, but the instant internal transformation made was very obvious to me in the way of how she would carry herself. I then decided to train in Make up artistry and hair styling where I then spent the last several years making up brides and working in a glamour photographic studio. I, like most other stylists would offer a ‘Mobile’ service where I would travel to a client’s home with all my equipment in hand. This for the most part was tiring and annoying. Lighting was often a problem, usually I had no mirror I could work from, the chair was too low and I would walk away like the 'hunch back'. ( not very attractive)

I then had this brilliant idea that would benefit both client and stylist, the ‘Glam Van’. I thought to myself, why not have an ‘actual’ mobile hair styling and make up artistry service within a huge Mercedes Benz van, fully equipped with separate hair styling and make up stations, air conditioning, generator to run all the electrical, etc.

For the next 18months, I spent researching, designing and forming the 'Glam Van', to service mostly, brides to be. My aim is for you to remember and enjoy the getting ready part of your day as much as the ceremony and the reception. I want you to have absolutely no stress and have the utmost confidence that you will have professional and down to earth stylists making you look and feel amazing.

I, like a lot of other women often feel intimidated by hair stylists and make up artists( and I'm one myself) so I understand the importance of being approachable and understanding of my client's needs.

Being creative and making others look and feel beautiful is what defines a huge part of who I am which makes me suitable to this profession.

Some people like their jobs because they're good at it and others are great at their jobs because they love it.
